Trust - SUMATHI PRARTHANA MANDIR

It is a family of 32 students, 7 Teachers, Aaya and her 2 assistants, and of-course a group of 9 dedicated social workers who are Trustees of “Asha-Kiran Trust’. It is formed in 1990, by the ‘Karta’ (promoter) of the family, Shri. Arvind Pitre, from Mumbai, now residing in Goa. He has 36 years’ calliberred work through his NGO from Mumbai, named ‘ARUN-MANGAL SEVA-VIKAS YOJNA’, catering to the needs of the physically challenged, in the form of Education, Medical Aid, Economic empowerment (1980-2016). Since his college-days (1969-73) he was actively involved in ‘Social Service League’ activities, by way of Rural-Development Camps, Blood-Donation Camps, etc.,

ARUN-MANGAL SEVA-VIKAS YOJNA

It is the NGO established by Shri. Arvind Pitre in Mumbai, in 1980-81. Major Projects accomplished :

  • Braille – unit and the talking – book – library’ in ‘Kamala Mehta School for the Blind, Dadar-Mumbai (1985)
  • Speech Therapy-clinic for the Deaf and Dumb (1986)
  • ‘Jaipur-Foot’ artificial limbs and appliances centre, Karnataka (1987)
  • District wise camps (Limb-Fitting) all over Karnataka State, some parts of Goa and Southern Maharashtra (1987-91)
  • Initiated School for the Deaf in Sirsi, later on the project successfully accomplished by ‘Uttar Kannada District Disabled Welfare Association,’Sirsi.
  • Promoter and ‘Adhar Stambha’ of Sumathi Prarthana Mandir’ a school for the Blind, run by “ASHA-KIRAN-TRUST’, Siddapura, (1991) and a vocational training centre.
  • ‘ABILITIES CENTRE’ an Industrial Workshop-training-centre started in Pune (1992) & then disintegrated to Dapoli and Ahmednagar (Maharashtra) since 1997, as also in Siddhapur recently (2013)
  • ENTREPRENEURSHIP – DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM for the youth, Women SHGs and now for physically challenged in Siddapura and Ratnagiri,Maharastra (2003 onwards).

ARVIND PITRE

Shri. Arvind Pitre is working in Karnataka since last 25th years! He is responsible and main force behind modernising ‘Karnatak Health Institue’, a charitable hospital at Ghataprabha. He was instrumental in starting major projects like ‘Jaipur-Foot’ centre and Ceriatric Ward.


Such-a-diverse and dynamic, pro-developmental works oriented person is associated with ‘AshaKiran Trust’ also. He has been working selflessly and relentlessly and is the inspiration for all.

Winner of the Brig. John Dalvi Award (Group of Tata’s) at the hands of JRD TATA, National level participation(1997) in Haridwar Conference by ‘Rehabilitation Council of India’, International Fellow, Fellow of ‘Ashoka Innovators For Public’, HG Washington D.C and proudly represented India in International NGO Conference (1988), held in Washington D.C. (U.S.A.) ‘BUSINESS INDIA’ Covered his activities in its fortnightly issue.
